Use the Rename Reference function to change the name of an existing part reference. When this function is selected, a text editing box will appear over the name of the reference being highlighted, and you are then able to rename it. When finished, either hit ENTER or click outside of the editing box with the cursor.

A dialog is displayed after the reference is picked when using the Menu function.
