Importing a SolidWorks File
Importing a SolidWorks File:

Select Solidworks from the File>Import submenu. The Select a Solidworks Part File to Import file dialog appears. Through this dialog you are able to import a Solidworks part file.

Click the Options button. The Solidworks Import Options dialog appears.

Select the desired settings on this dialog and click OK.

To import a file, browse for the specific file you intend to import, click it so that it appears under File Name) and select OPEN.

Once objects are placed a DynaHandle appears for further edits of placement as well as conversation bar options (Copy for example). Once edits are complete choose OK to accept.
NOTE: If a SLDPRT file has external reference topology data and this file is not present, an error in the Status Report will read "no entities to convert" Opening the file in SolidWorks and using the 'Dissolve' on these features, the link to the external reference is removed, (save the updated file) and should open in SolidWorks Import.
