This function allows you to create a parting surface to separate the part at that surface into two halves, thus creating a mold.

Using the Function

1. Select Create>Advanced Surfaces>Parting. The Parting Surface dialog box appears, as shown below.

2. Select the options on this dialog as desired:

• Curve Fit Tolerance: maximum error of the surface fitting

• Parting Angle: angle between the direction and the parting surface

• Parting Length: length of the parting surface

• Pull Direction: controls the surface creation to be calculated using the pull direction

• Surface Normal: control the surface creation to be calculated using the surface normal as the direction

• Tangent to Surface:controlsthe surface creation to be calculated using the surface tangent as the direction

• Modify the length and angle interactivity: invoks the interactive control of creation of the parting surface

3. Click OK. The Conversation Bar appears.

4. Select the desired options on the Conversation Bar according to its text prompts.

5. Click  Done to create more parting surfaces or Accept/OK.
