The Vector entity is a powerful and essential tool in surface building. Primarily, vectors provide direction values and sometimes provide coordinate data as well.

The vector entity, which is essentially an arrow that points in a specific direction, can be used to control the slope of a surface or spline as it passes through a particular point. Vectors are also useful in defining 'plane' entities and they can also be used to pierce a surface to extract coordinate and slope vector data. The vector creation features are available from the Create>Vector pull-down and Advanced Modeling>Create>Vector palette submenus.
