Conic

Conic

The features available from the Create>Conic pull-down and palette submenus allow you to create Conic, Ellipse, and Parabola geometry.

Ellipse by Values

Use this feature to create an elliptical arc with indicated length and orientation of the major and minor axes, start and end angles, and center positions.

Ellipse by Outer Axes

Use this function to create an elliptical arc by selecting three positions that represent the major axes of a rectangle.

Ellipse by Inner Axes

Use this function to create an elliptical arc by selecting two points that represent the position and magnitude of the major axis.

Parabola from Two Positions

Two user-defined end positions define the directrix or focal point of the parabola.

Parabola from Line

This feature allows you to define the directrix with an existing line.

Parabola from EndEnt

This feature allows you to define the directrix as the line that is tangent to a selected curve at the end of the curve that is closest to the selection position.

Conic from 2 Positions

Use this feature to create a conic based on indicated positions for the start and end points of the conic, the slope of the conic at the start and end positions, and a rho value that determines the type of conic.

Conic from 3 Positions

Use this feature to create a conic based on indicated positions for three points on the conic and the slope of the conic at two of the indicated positions.

Conic from 4 Positions

Use this feature to create a conic based on indicated positions for four points on the conic and the slope of the conic at one of the indicated points.

Conic from 5 Positions

Use this feature to create a conic based on the positions of five indicated points on the conic.

Conic from 6 Coefficients

Use this feature to create a conic section using user-defined values for the six coefficients
