The General Curve Interpolation method is a construction technique that builds a face that passes through a sequence of curves flowing in roughly the same direction. General curve would be the most common method of getting reverse engineered point data into a surface definition.

Often the general cross sections of a surface can be described by a series of curves that flow in approximately the same direction. An example of this would be a series of section cuts from an aircraft manufacturer's database. While these curves are often 3D spline entities, 'curves' such as lines, arcs, and conics can also be used. General Curve allows these curves to define the flow in one direction. Solids will compute the best fit splines to blend the surface across the curves. These two sets of curves are combined, resulting in the final surface definition.
