Import File Types

KeyCreator Drafting / File / Import / Working with Import Files / Import File Types

The File>Import options allow you to open the various file types. These various import formats and methods are explained below.

NOTE: All translations of assemblies that use either external or internal part references result in lightweight assemblies. However, when necessary for operations like editing, for example, you can load the full geometry by clearing the lightweight options. This lightweight option is a check box in the Lightweight column in the Part References pane of the Part Splitter. For details, see PartRefs Window.

NOTE: To import a CADL file, first, convert it to a KXL script. The procedure is provided in Help>Help Topics>KXL Help>KXL Converter.

HINT: When importing certain files, you will be warned when you attempt to import a file containing units of measurement that differ from the units in the current part. You will be able to specify how to handle the units mismatch through a dialog.
